Children's Dentistry in Vashi, Navi Mumbai
Unhurried visits, simple explanations, and a first experience of the dentist that your child won't dread coming back to.
Children's dentistry covers the dental care of infants, children, and teenagers — from the first milk tooth to the full set of permanent teeth. Milk teeth are temporary, but they are not unimportant: they hold space for the adult teeth underneath, guide them into position, and let your child chew and speak properly. A decayed milk tooth left untreated can cause pain, infection, and crowding problems years later. At Biolume Dental Care in Vashi, children's visits focus on keeping teeth healthy early, so treatment is rarely needed at all.
Just as important as the clinical work is how the visit feels. A child's first experiences at the dentist tend to shape how they feel about dental care as an adult. At our Sector 19D, Vashi clinic, we take the time to show children what each instrument does before we use it, keep the language simple and honest, and never rush a nervous child through a procedure. Parents stay in the room, and we explain every finding to you in plain terms.
When to Bring Your Child In
- By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing
- White, brown, or black spots on the teeth
- Complaints of pain, or avoiding chewing on one side
- Thumb-sucking or dummy use continuing past age four
- A knocked, chipped, or loose tooth after a fall
What happens at your appointment
So there are no surprises, here is the sequence children's dentistry follows at Biolume Dental Care.
Getting comfortable
We start with a chat and let your child sit in the chair, try the light, and see the instruments before anything goes in their mouth.
Gentle check-up
A look at every tooth and the gums, bite, and jaw development. Low-radiation digital X-rays are taken only when they are genuinely needed.
Cleaning & protection
A light polish, and where useful, fluoride varnish or sealants to protect the deep grooves of the back teeth from decay.
Talk with parents
We show you what we found, explain whether anything needs attention, and share brushing and diet advice suited to your child's age.
Aftercare
Most of a child's dental health is decided at home, between visits.
- Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste — a smear for under-threes, a pea-sized amount after that — and help with brushing until around age seven or eight.
- Keep sugary snacks and drinks to mealtimes rather than grazing through the day; how often sugar is eaten matters more than how much.
- Avoid putting babies to bed with a bottle of milk or juice.
- After fluoride varnish, avoid eating or brushing for the time we advise so it has time to work.
- Book check-ups every six months, or sooner if we have recommended a shorter interval.
What Children's Dental Care Includes at Biolume
Care is matched to your child's age and what we actually find, and covers the following:
- Check-ups and cleaning — monitoring every tooth, the gums, and how the jaws are developing
- Fluoride varnish — a quick, painless coating that strengthens enamel against decay
- Pit and fissure sealants — a thin protective layer over the grooves of back teeth, where most childhood cavities start
- Tooth-coloured fillings — for milk and permanent teeth when decay is found early
- Pulp treatment for milk teeth — to save a decayed tooth that would otherwise need removing too early
- Space maintainers — to hold the gap when a milk tooth is lost early, so adult teeth have room to come through
- Habit counselling — for thumb-sucking, dummy use, and mouth breathing
Why Milk Teeth Deserve Treatment
A common question from parents is why a milk tooth should be filled if it will fall out anyway. The answer depends on timing. Some back milk teeth stay in the mouth until age eleven or twelve. A cavity in one of these teeth can progress to the nerve within months, causing pain, infection, and in some cases damage to the permanent tooth developing underneath. Losing a milk tooth early can also let neighbouring teeth drift into the gap, leaving too little room for the adult tooth. Treating a small cavity early is quicker, cheaper, and far easier on your child than dealing with an infection later.
Making the Visit Easy for Nervous Children
Many children are anxious at the dentist, often because of what they have heard from others rather than their own experience. We use a simple approach: tell the child what we are going to do, show them how it works, then do it. Instruments are given friendly, honest explanations. Short, positive first visits come before any treatment wherever possible, so the first thing your child associates with the clinic is not a procedure. We would rather split treatment over two short visits than push a frightened child through one long one.
Early Orthodontic Assessment
By around age seven, a child has a mix of milk and permanent teeth, and it becomes possible to spot developing bite and crowding problems. Most children won't need early treatment, but some — crossbites, severe crowding, or habits affecting jaw growth — are easier to correct while the jaws are still growing. We monitor this at routine check-ups and let you know if and when an orthodontic assessment makes sense.

Routine care, prevention, and most fillings and treatments for children are handled at our Vashi clinic. If a child needs extensive treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia, or has specific medical needs, we will tell you so and refer you to a paediatric dental specialist we trust — rather than attempting treatment in a setting that isn't right for your child.
